Here's a quick test showing a simplified Jag colliding into a wall like the show. I basically switched the geometry from SOPs to DOPs once the distance to the wall got closed, and the Dynamics simulation will pick up the motion from SOPs, and use that to drive the sim.

Watched the most excellent anime Vexille two days back, and I had to try to setup a creature effect like the "Jags". Under 3 hours for the whole setup, but spent loads of time setting up cameras and tweaking some details!
